New York State Senate candidate Mike DiSanto, D, WF-Gravesend, criticised the League of Conservation Voters as "enterprise content of the political status quo and the failure of the environmental agenda in Albany." DiSanto stated that "while they put the most dysfunctional legislature in the country (C) grade, the League for the protection of voters approved most of its incumbents."
During the interview confirm DiSanto said that while his opponent did not do anything for the environment, he has not done anything terrible, so will continue to endorse Martin Golden.
The Golden voice's been touted for the overload of prices as the main reason for their support. DiSanto considers, however, that the prices of overload is not sufficient or adequate new economic mechanism to effectively reduce greenhouse or creating green jobs. He argues that congestion pricing puts a heavier burden on the auto dependent middle-class families, who make up a large part of his district.
Golden voice to override the price is but one of many that were against key environmental legislation. EPL/environmental advocates include Martin Golden 29 Senators with "green" class. It has one of the lowest class on their "2010 voter Guide, which is based on the Senator's environmental voting record. Senator Golden had voted against key environmental legislation, such as the recent Senate appropriations for environmental protection (A9705).
Senator Golden voting record also reveals that 88% of his last 160 accounts were decorations or celebrations, suggesting that, overall, he is not sponsoring any legislation. Reform and progress in the area of public policy is clearly missing from the agenda is golden, ringing true, particularly with regard to environmental legislation.
Mike DiSanto believes that New York is lagging behind other States and countries in the green industry and loses much needed revenue and the number of job opportunities. "The people of this State cannot afford to wait any longer for reform. Jobs and innovation are the key to our financial recovery, "DiSanto said. DiSanto believes that the preservation of the environment and the industry may even go hand and hand to promote sustainability through innovation and better life of the people of New York.
DiSanto also claims that green initiatives can reduce energy costs and provide tax relief to the people of New York. His plan includes initiatives to lower energy bills for families across the State, and provide tax credits for green home repair and residential buildings.
"I am convinced that the current state legislature suffers from a lack of vision. My opponent is not committed to environmental issues, since he has not proposed any legislation dealing with environmental issues, "said DiSanto.
