Golden Schools Foundation’s Paratroopers Program Funds Smart Board

The Golden Schools Foundation (GSF), a non-profit founded by parents and community members with the vision of encouraging a high level of performance and accountability in Golden, Colorado area schools, today announced that it has funded the purchase and the installation of a Smart Board for the Bell Middle School library.  A Smart Board is an easy to use, digital whiteboard that creates a powerful tool for teaching and presenting when used in an educational environment.  Funding for the Smart Board is from GSF’s ParaTroopers fundraising initiative that was developed to help mitigate the impacts of Jefferson County School district budget cuts on Golden schools for the 2011 – 2012 year.  At Bell Middle School planned technology improvements had to be cancelled due to the 2011-2012 budget cuts.

The Golden articulation area schools to be supported by the ParaTroopers program include Kyffin, Mitchell, Pleasant View Elementary School, Shelton, Ralston and Welchester Elementary Schools, Bell Middle School and Golden High School.

“We are excited to have a Smart Board in the Bell library to help enhance the student learning experience,” said Bridget Jones, Principal of Bell Middle School.  “Smart boards are an interactive tool that allows students and the teacher to interact with the lesson and truly creates a stimulating, engaging learning environment.  This Smart Board will positively impact every student at Bell.”

“The GSF Board determined that the additional of Smart Board technology in Bell’s library would benefit a broad range of students and would have a direct impact on the quality of student instruction at the school,” said Greg Poulos, Chair of The Golden Schools Foundation.  “The Golden Schools Foundation is very proud, on behalf of the Golden community who made the donations, to fund this important technology enhancement for Bell Middle School.  This purchase is tangible evidence of Golden’s commitment to improving its neighborhood schools to Grade ‘A’ status for the benefit of all students.”
