Be wary of "We Buy Gold" signs

We have all seen the "We Buy Gold" signs everywhere.  The number of these stores has more than doubled in the last 10 years.  Make sure you are getting a fair price if you are selling your old jewelry or sterling silver.  You should at least check the price at a couple of locations.  As the precious metals prices continue drop, so does the amount of gold and silver being recycled.  We have heard and read that some of these locations only pay between 20% and 40% of the current market value, "to cover their expenses." There are many options out there, and we encourage you to do a little research before you complete your transaction.

Sometimes these items have a greater sentimental value than the value they are worth.  We at Hyde, Hyde & Hyde always hold the items for one week, because of the local ordinances dealing with precious metals, but also to make sure our customers don't have seller's remorse without an opportunity to rectify the situation.  If our customers change their minds during this period, we encourage them bring the check back and pick up their items.  In closing for this week be sure that you check with us after checking with others when recycling your gold or silver.  We will not always be the highest price, we never get offended if you choose to sell it elsewhere, and we had grandparents we loved with all our hearts and can relate to losing something of sentimental value.
